How to apply for a MyCAA scholarship

If you've ever applied for a grant or student loan, you've probably had to jump through a few hoops and wait (and wait, and wait) for approval. But if you're applying for MyCAA Scholarship funding, good news: you could get approval and begin your coursework right away.
The process might seem confusing, but ed2go in partnership with our accredited college and university partners, have worked with hundreds of military spouses for MyCAA training and we're here to help you get started. If career training is in your future, here's how to apply for MyCAA scholarship funding:

  1. Choose your career path

Figuring out what you want to do for work is the most important part of your career journey. You want to choose a career that not only excites you, but moves with you. Luckily, many of today's careers offer flexibility and remote work opportunities, which are especially important when you're a military spouse. Some of the top careers for military spouses include:

    • Certified Paralegal
    • Pharmacy Technician
    • Veterinary Assistant
    • Medical Billing and Coding Specialist
    • Certified IT Professional

We offer hundreds of online courses that prepare for in-demand, portable careers. And better yet, you can complete our courses anywhere, anytime it's convenient for you!

  2. Determine your eligibility and create a MyCAA account

After deciding what type of career you want to pursue, you need to determine your MyCAA eligibility. To be eligible for the MyCAA Scholarship you must meet the following requirements:

    1. You must be the spouse of an Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve member
    2. Your spouse must be on Title 10 orders within the pay grades of:
      • E-1 to E-5
      • W-1 to W-2
      • O-1 to O-2
    3. You will need to a high school diploma or equivalent

If you can check all these boxes, you're eligible to receive up $4,000 in MyCAA Scholarship funding! From there, you would want to create a MyCAA account at the Military OneSource MySECO (Spouse Education and Career Opportunities) website. After creating your profile, the MyCAA program will verify your eligibility with the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).

  3. Choose a school that's right for you

It's no secret that getting trained through a top school is important for your career. Luckily, we partner with over top 2,000 universities and colleges across the United States – many of which are MyCAA-approved and located near military communities.

Some of our top MyCAA-approved partners include:

    • Arizona Western College
    • Austin Peay State University
    • California State University San Marcos
    • Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi
    • University of Central Florida
    • University of North Carolina at Wilmington

These are just a handful of the MyCAA-approved schools we work with.
And even better, our courses are entirely online so you can complete your career training anywhere. So, you can start your program in Orlando, Florida and complete it in Tacoma, Washington!
At the end of the day, you want to complete your training at a school employers will know, regardless of where you end up in the country.

  4. Get in touch with a Military Support Specialist

You know what you want to do for a living and where you want to get your training — great! The next step is put this all together, which we can help you do. Beyond MyCAA-approved courses and partners, we pride ourselves on supporting military spouses in their education journey.
Our MyCAA specialists will be with you through the entire process, from helping you create an Education and Training Plan to enrolling you in the right course. Contact us to connect with a MyCAA specialist who will outline all of the steps you need to take and help you through the entire process of obtaining a MyCAA Scholarship, registering for a course, and staying motivated while you complete your course.

  5. Create an Education and Training Plan

To get MyCAA Scholarship funding, you must upload a detailed Education and Training Plan (ETP) to your MyCAA account (see Step 2). The ETP outlines what type of career training you plan to take and why. So, here are the main items your ETP needs to cover:

    1. Your name
    2. School contact Information
    3. Contact information for the person creating the ETP
    4. Course name
    5. Course type
    6. Detail of all required education for the course
    7. Course duration

This may seem like a lot information, but our MyCAA specialist will help you create your ETP and ensure that you receive the MyCAA Scholarship money you deserve!
